Welcome to Titóoqanaawit
Titóoqanaawit translates to "Way of Life." We are a Tribally-led, Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the multigenerational preservation of our cultural values, history, language, and connection to place. Founded and led by the ˀóykalaˀayn (community), we exist exclusively for charitable, educational, and cultural preservation.
We work to maintain and extend the narrative of the Nimiipuu people, ensuring our youth and future generations remain deeply rooted in our traditions, language, and ancestral homelands.
The Three Pillars of Our Way of Life
Our work is anchored by three core principles that guide every program and initiative we create:
CULTURAL PRESERVATION
Protecting, honoring, and sharing the authentic history, stories, and lifeways of the Nimiipuu people through our own voices.
EDUCATION
Creating experiential learning opportunities that bridge generations, and explore academic and career pathways that align with our cultural values.
CONNECTION TO PLACE
Cultivating a deep, respectful understanding of our relationship with the land, ecosystems, and the sacred geography of our homelands.
